Director of Operations
Manages the overall operation of Girls Rock Columbia (GRC) with the support of part-time staff. Responsibilities include: overseeing part-time staff, managing finances, fundraising, coordinating camp, and working with the Board of Directors.
Administrative/Financial Support
- Works with and evaluates part-time staff members to execute GRC programs and events
- Ensures that all bills are paid on time and in full
- Prudently manages organization’s resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations
- Submits monthly budget and fiscal worksheet updates to board treasurer for review
- Works with board officers to ensure that tax forms and government documents are filed in accordance to demands and timelines
Fundraising
- Develops yearly fundraising plan in the fourth quarter of calendar year with board
- Coordinates with board and other staff on fundraising events (for example Midlands Gives, Rock Roulette, Cola Rocks for Girls Rock)
- Uses organizational resources and reputation to garner new fundraising opportunities
Camp
- Ensures that each camp has staffing, training, and resources necessary to ensure quality of programs, products and services.
- Attends all camp sessions in a leadership role to ensure organizers, interns, volunteers, etc., have all of the information, materials, and support they need.
- Manages, supports and coordinates with part-time and camp staff.
Board of Directors
- Supports board of directors to cultivate, develop, maintain and support a strong board
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
- Coordinates the preparation of the board meeting agenda with board members, and prepares and provides meeting materials.
- Attends and presents at board meetings.
- Fosters positive, productive relationships and teamwork among staff, board, and volunteers.
- Creates and updates board manual with existing working board
- Works with board members and organizing team to develop annual strategic plan in the first quarter of each calendar year.
- Works with Board Treasurer and Board Chair to create and recommend yearly budget for board approval
Job Details
Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week)
Salary: $16,000 – $18,000 annually

Volunteer Coordinator
Manages recruitment, training, and appreciation for Girls Rock Columbia volunteers.
- Reports to Director of Operations and board programming committee
- Updates volunteer form
- Assigns volunteer roles for camp and fundraising events such as Rock Roulette
- Drafts a digital volunteer info packet
- Plans and promotes a pre-camp volunteer interest hangout (time/place/activities)
- Helps create a volunteer information sheet for interest hangout
- Coordinates craft nights with Posi Posse to make decorations for camp
- Facilitates training of full-time camp staff (counselors, band coaches and music instructors)
- Acts as “Master of Ceremonies” at camp, keeping everyone on schedule
- Coordinates thank you notes for volunteers, donors, sponsors, and food donors
- Plans a post-camp volunteer appreciation hangout (time/place/details)

Communication Coordinator
Manages professional communications for Girls Rock Columbia.
- Reports to Director of Operations and board communication committee
- Manages social media accounts
- Develops social media calendar
- Ensures that all food donors and sponsors get social media shoot-outs
- Ensures that promotional materials, website, and social media avenues are up-to-date and accurate
- Oversees design, marketing, and promotion for fundraising events and programs
- Creates and distribute post-camp surveys
- Writes e-newsletters and send via Mailchimp
- Writes and distributes press releases for events
- Provides camp tours for press

Gear and Merchandise Coordinator
Manages Girls Rock Columbia gear and coordinates merch production.
- Reports to Director of Operations and board programming committee
- Manages gear and merchandise inventory
- Evaluates gear needs (repairs/replacements)
- Labels gear for camp
- Assists with organizing load-in and load-out for camp
- Develops load-in logistics schedule and gear locations guide
- Troubleshoots gear problems at camp
- Coordinates gear for fundraising events such as Rock Roulette
